"After moving to Tauranga I called, emailed and visited local electricians, explaining that I wanted an apprenticeship but because I didn't have any experience, I enquired whether they could offer me any work experience.

Rob at Laser Electrical Tauranga asked to meet with me and subsequently offered me one week's work experience. At the end of that week, he offered me a job! My week was great - from digging a trench to a strip and drill and helping to pre-wire garages."

Lauren admits seeing women in trades is not common but plans to successfully qualify and proudly wear a tool belt.
